Why a young man’s "normal" is worth a second look

The CDC-harmonized reference range for healthy young men is 264 to 916 ng/dL. A man at 290 and a man at 880 both get the same word back from the lab.

That range was drawn from healthy, non-obese men aged 19 to 39. It describes how that group scored. It was never designed to tell a 31-year-old where he functions best — and a man who ran at 800 through his twenties and now sits at 400 is technically in range and has lost half his own hormone.
